Hilary graduated from the University for Development Studies, Tamale, Ghana in 2002 with a BA (IDS) 2nd Class, Upper Division. IDS encompass a broad spectrum of courses in the social sciences at the basic degree level. He joined the KHRC in 2003 to continue his interest in the research field which he started at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC) in 1988/89 as a Field Worker. He holds a professional Teachers Certificate from the training College.

RESEARCH AREAS:

Hilary is currently a student at LSHTM, dl, doing an MSc in Epidemiology. Keen interest in Access to Health Care and Infant Mortality; Communicable Diseases, Under 5 and Maternal Mortality in Africa (Ghana); Complicated Malaria-Nonbiomedical conception.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:

His previous research experience was at the Ghana Vitamin A Supplementation Trial (1988/89) now NHRC in which he was a field worker. He led a team of students to research into community problems and needs at Ayorya in the Brong Ahafo Region, Ghana which formed part of the requirement of his first degree. He is currently working on ObapaapavitA project, the largest epidemiological trial at the centre headed by Dr Lisa Hurt.

ACHIEVEMENT:

Hilary was voted Senior Staff of the year 2003 (first time ever) with a certificate on ObaapavitA project, KHRC. In September 2004, he was promoted as the Site Leader of the Kintampo site of the ObaapavitA project in addition to his role as the head of Support office( Coordinator) of the same project.
